La historia de Filomena Baez es un tejido vivo de la cultura Huilliche en la costa de Hualaihu\u00e9.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nacida en Caleta El Manzano (Punta Quebraolas), s\u00e9ptima de once hermanos, su formaci\u00f3n comenz\u00f3 en la \u00abescuela\u00bb m\u00e1s exigente y amorosa: la cocina fog\u00f3n de su madre. All\u00ed, mientras esperaban las tortillas al rescoldo y escuchaban historias de los ancestros, aprendi\u00f3 que el hilo no es solo lana, es memoria. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abRecuerdo el agua fr\u00eda del r\u00edo donde pis\u00e1bamos los vellones para sacar la suciedad&#8230; y a mi madre con el huso ense\u00f1\u00e1ndonos a hilar\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, relata con emoci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Su artesan\u00eda nace de una necesidad vital: abrigar a los suyos contra la \u00abmar helada\u00bb. Sus primeros tejidos fueron chombas y calcetines gruesos para su padre y hermanos pescadores. Pero su talento no se detuvo en la lana; tambi\u00e9n domina el arte de la cester\u00eda, creando piezas utilitarias que han servido por generaciones para cosechar papas o mariscar ajos.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hoy, a sus 56 a\u00f1os y tras haber criado a 4 hijos gracias a este oficio, Filomena lleva su cultura como estandarte. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abSoy mujer sure\u00f1a y mapuche por descendencia y crianza\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, afirma. Cada pieza que sale de sus manos \u2014sea un canasto de manila o una frazada a telar\u2014 lleva impregnada la fuerza de una mujer que transform\u00f3 la necesidad en arte y la tradici\u00f3n en su
